State College, PA, March 28, 2008 – BMI affiliated Singer-Songwriter Will Diehl has announced the presale for his new studio release Love and Motion, a CD of original music. The CD contains a mix of rock, pop, jazz and alt-country. A reviewer of one of the songs said, "I thought this song was going in one direction when it started out, and then it … took a new direction ... Loved the sax. Vocals were cool too, it felt like a mix between Leonard Cohen, Bruce Springsteen, and George Thorogood." One of the unique aspects of the process and creation of this CD is that collaboration was via the internet. Will has never met some of the musicians on this CD – and most of the tracks were recorded in the respective musicians' home studios and then sent back and forth to Diehl. Diehl recorded the initial vocal and guitar tracks at his home studio and sent the tracks to drummer and bass player James Robinson (http://www.internetmusicproduction.com/) in Los Angeles. After these tracks were recorded and rough mixes completed, they were sent to Ian Cameron (http://efiddler.com/) in Vancouver, Canada, who added violin and mandolin tracks. Morris Acevedo, guitarist and owner of the New England Guitar Workshop (www.negw.org) provided guitar, keyboards and organ from the Boston area and John Christensen (http://www.madisonbassplayer.com/John+Christensen/) of Madison, WI added bass. Back in Pennsylvania at Frigo Recording studios (www.frigorecording.com), Diehl met with saxophonist Rick Hirsch (http://hirschmusic.biz/) and mandolin player and guitarist Tom Buckmiller. Recording Engineer Marc Frigo, who has worked with artists such as the The Indigo Girls, Patty Loveless, Jewel, Israel, Erin O'Donnell, Nicole C. Mullen, The Borrowers, Letters to Cleo, and many others is currently working with Will on the final touches for the upcoming release.

SALLY ZITO'S NEW CD, CHEAP AND ALIVE-- A SOPHISTICATED JAZZ- INFLECTED POP STYLE ALBUM MAKES ITS' NATIONAL DEBUT San Francisco Giants Pitcher Barry Zito plays guitar on all tracks Daughter of Nat King Cole Composer/Arranger Joseph Zito LOS ANGELES, CA – Sally Zito, the daughter of Joseph Zito, famed composer, conductor and musical arranger for Nat King Cole, continues the family tradition of deep, meaningful writing, placed in a sophisticated jazz-inflected pop style for her debut CD, Cheap and Alive. Asked about what inspired her work, Sally says, "This CD is drawn from the people and life stories I've noticed along the way. The title track chronicles a teen growing up in Las Vegas and trying to be accepted, but looking to all the wrong role models. I think that speaks to a lot of the girls growing up today, anywhere in the world." "The girls are thinking that who they are is not enough and they compare themselves to characters in music videos and TV. They feel, in order to be truly alive, they need to look and act cheap, rather than just learning to love who they are." Being brought up in a musical family, Zito started learning classical piano at age 4, moved into jazz improvisation and performing with several professional bands, even landing as the drummer for a heavy metal cover band in her early teens before going on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Music, Film Scoring, at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Her appreciation for writing was furthered in her early 20s by working for Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated film composer, the late Michael Kamen, whose credits include Lethal Weapon, Mr. Holland's Opus and X-Men, and later with multi-platinum songwriter/recording artist Harriet Schock, ("That Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady", "Ferris Wheel") who encouraged Sally perform her work in her own voice. Soon after, The Sally Zito Project was formed and met with great success. It was also during this period in Sally's career that she met her manager, Peter Bennett, (formerly the promotion manager for the Beatles and the Rolling Stones) who introduced her as "the female Billy Joel" because of her aggressive, yet sophisticated piano playing style. "I'm excited for people to hear my music because I feel it brings a very new and different sound to popular American music, yet draws most strongly from America's primary contribution to music: American standards, improvisational jazz, and rock and roll," Sally says. Filled with the sophisticated musicality of jazz harmonies, the melody and storyline of the standards, and the power rhythms of rock, dynamically performed by Sally on her piano; it is this fusion that make Sally's music so ground-breaking and exciting. In recent months, Sally has appeared as the opening act at the Paramount Theater in Hollywood during a "Benefit For the Animals", hosted by Paula Abdul and for such notable artists as Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, Lester Chambers of The Chambers Brothers, Tony Maiden of Rufus and Chaka Kahn, Howard Scott of War, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Robbie Dupree ("Steal Away"). Additionally she has worked with Grammy and Oscar-nominated recording artist Stephen Bishop ("Separate Lives", "It Might Be You"), and opened for the legendary Eddie Money in San Francisco for the charity bash benefiting Strikeouts for Troops and the San Francisco Giants' Community Fund, working alongside her brother Barry, the starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants. Barry plays guitar on all tracks of Cheap and Alive. Sally and her band have been featured on the national television shows Extra and Living Large, and have received press coverage in numerous newspapers across the country, including USA Today, the New York Times, the Boston Herald, and the San Francisco Chronicle. In addition, Sally has received radio airplay across the nation and in Canada.

All music styles may work, but generally, rock, industrial rock, rap, hip-hop, reggae, Americana, and punk work best with the footage.

We have a winner! Of the single elimination at least. Any guesses? Well he won the single elimination last year and does sick one-handed back loops. Yes, Josh Angulo ruled the day and just got better and better as each heat progressed. But there is more to the story than that...
It's that time of year when people begin to reflect (usually after one too many sherries) on the past twelve months. Thanks in no small part to you lot we've had our best year ever. So get ready for some sickening mutual appreciation and back-patting...'
If I had a dime for every person I heard say during the Sessions Men's Rail Jam held in Vail, Colorado, 'Man, Shaun White always wins,' I'd be ! nowhere near as rich as he is (but I'd definitely have some money in the bank). You see, Shaun White does always win, and for good reason%97he's good! So it really was no surprise to anyone on Friday evening when the prolific shredder walked away with a return title for this year's rail event by flying around and taking a different line almost every run, 50-50 to gapping the kink on his way up, and then 50-50ing back down the kinked rail to 360 out. He also 270ed onto the kink and tore apart both C-rails. Yeah, he kinda just did it all.

In the women's competition Iballa Moreno (Mistral, North) took overall victory in the jumps while Daida (Mistral, North) cleaned up in both race and freestyle.

The Cleavers' debut CD, Television Mind, not only depends on great original music written and performed by the band (even if I do say so myself!), but also computer technology that allowed our band to record and promote this CD with less cost and total control. This melding of science and art has created new opportunities for the independent artist. The Cleavers have been able to master the various tasks needed to record, manufacture and promote this CD by taking advantage of these computer technologies:
Next to your instrument, your network will be one of the most important things in your career as a musician. Whether you're signed, or an indie artist, it's not just who you know that's important, but who knows you. Having a working network can make the difference between playing an empty club and opening for a platinum-selling band.
Plan your record release as if you were an actual record label, taking on the role of both the Product Manager and the Director of Promotions/Marketing. Imagine that your label will be releasing a CD in three months. (This plan presumes the project is currently wrapping things up in the studio and should be ready for mastering.).
This summer, a love of music and games are coming together on a computer screen near you. Combining forces with Got Game Entertainment, Australian musician, artist, and game developer Cos Russo, conjures music and mystery in "Alida", an intricate first person 3D graphical adventure game. If you're already a gamer, think "Myst" with a rock 'n roll attitude. And if you're not, this is the kind of game that could make you one.
Even though it is now, practically, an "independent" musician's world, more and more, we are reading how increasingly important it is for unsigned and independent recording artists to have professional third-party representation in the forms of record promoters and media publicists.
A studying multi-instrumentalist since the age of ten (Guitar, Bass, and Keyboards), Steve Steckler in 1989 founded the very big sound of Big Sound Studio. Subtext: The do-it-yourself approach to marketing and promoting music that began back in the 1970's and, perhaps, as early as the 1950's as an experiment that was often an exercise in futility, but has, ironically, become the standard by which we all exist, also comes with its own sets of blessings, curses and limitations.
There comes a point in every artist's life when they need to go beyond simply scratching the surface and truly invest every ounce of their soul in the creative process. Though powerhouse vocalist Rachael Lampa's consistently belted out reflections from the heart, this self-titled outing finds her letting loose with no holds barred abandon, upping the expository level and relating to her audience with new found candor and maturity.
Over the years, musician Johnny Clegg has worked hard to merge two worlds %AD the English-speaking and the African American culture of South Africa %AD and succeeded in doing so with the formation of the first interracial band - Jaluka. However, the group formed around the time of apartheid, which brought upon unforeseen complications including the banning of their first album by the South African government. Having to deal with so many uncontrollable issues, the group broke up in the mid-80's, and Clegg formed another band with Savuka, combining European pop music with South African melodies.
align%3D"left">CatDesigners hail from London (the UK love their cats, even more than the US, ya know), and have developed an introspective indie feel that trips into a marriage between David Bowie's Scary Monsters and Earthling. Maybe more toward Scary Monsters, but with a great sense of modern mixing and scheming.

Another fresh face has emerged from the musically fertile landscape of Alberta, Canada, and its name is Freddy. Or rather, his name is Freddy, a.k.a. Frederic Litwiniuk. "I decided to just go by 'Freddy' so people wouldn't have to worry about trying to pronounce my last name," explains Freddy. "The first name is maybe a little easier for people to remember. My last name gets butchered pretty well," he adds, laughing.
Jennifer Brantley says she is obsessed with writing great songs. It shows. On the Other Side, her compulsively listenable new CD for Blue Room Records, demonstrates that the young Nashville-based singer and songwriter is equally committed to the craft of making great records.
For my first 10 years of playing music, I was in a succession of bands that went nowhere. Armed with the foolhardy belief that we were destined to succeed just by playing out and releasing product, we played gig after gig to dismal audiences and sent out hundreds of CDs to radio and media, yet received little notice. After years of frustration, I channeled my energies into a solo techno project. I hit pay dirt and was signed to a record company after sending out only 20 cassettes.

Over the last few years, as my band faded from the press and as we tried to find a label crazy enough to release another one of our records, I watched radio become exactly what Pete Townsend said it would become in his never-realized sequel to "Tommy" - "Lifehouse." In his story, Pete says that "Tommy" is no longer physically deaf, dumb and blind, but emotionally deaf, dumb and blind. His senses are overrun and subsequently deadened by advertisers, the media, and the like. In Lifehouse, the government has assumed control of the radio, and the citizens are not allowed to listen to anything but mundane, boring, safe, Muzak. Betcha didn't know you'd be so right so soon, huh, Pete? Leave it to Janet and Justin to be the downfall of freedom of speech - or the necessary wake up call.
If not lyrically, that's what this album is all about spiritually for McCain. His first proper studio release since the end of a long tenure at Lava/Atlantic Records, Scream and Whisper was created at a time when the Greenville, South Carolina, singer/songwriter was at a crossroads both personally and professionally.
No matter how many music conferences I go to, no matter how many panels I sit on, I continue to hear the same half-baked advice doled out to unsuspecting artists. I've come to call them the 3BL-- the three biggest bits of non-advice given to musicians. Here they are:
No, that's not the name of rock singer extraordinaire Leiana's newest CD, but it could be - with no apologies to 50 Cent, who could learn a few things about lyrics, power and pain from this lady. This will come as a shock to those who think that someone blond and beautiful has it made and that a brother from the ghetto who got all shot up has a corner on the harshness of low level life and survival, a/k/a "keepin' it real."
With the release of his fourth CD as a leader, DRUM N BASS SOCIETY - Vol. 1 (Blue Canoe Records - 2004), Joseph Patrick Moore captures a variety of moods, sound textures, and grooves - yes, he always grooves. His musical inspiration comes from a diverse range of musical styles and is motivated by the influences of various legendary artists of many different musical genres. Yet, his music still retains the right creative balance between familiarity and uniquely original in context.
